At the age of six, she was able to win an event using an outdated board discovered in the rubbish outside her house. At the age of 5, she started surfing. She was the winner of her first contest at age six. By the age 7she had received sponsorship. The city she was born in was San Clemente, California. Later she moved to Hawaii. In 2003, she was awarded the Triple Crown Award for Rookie of the Year. Ashley also took home titles, like two National Scholastic Surfing Association championships as well as the Professional Surfing Tour of America championship. Ashley is the 2011 Pipeline Women's Pro winner in Hawaii. Ashley's 2013 Women's Qualification Series ranking is 59th.
